We are finalists in the 2018 InAVation Awards! This is in the Government and Public Sector category for the BAE Aerospace Academy where we delivered an immersive training solution using group based Virtual Reality.
The 7,400m² Academy for Skills & Knowledge (ASK) is dedicated to providing training for apprentices and graduates, as well as further education and development for long term employees.
As part of this training BAE wanted to use Virtual Reality so engineers can train without requiring access to high cost or sought-after equipment and tools and experience potentially dangerous situations without placing the individual in any physical harm. They also wanted this to take place in a collaborative environment, without people being locked away in headsets, so teams can work together and debate the results.
We delivered this in the form of a CAVE, a room where all the walls feature 3D projection to immerse people into the dataset and our proprietary software suite LearnView, to bring the training materials to life. This allows training to take place in the CAVE presented as a range of scenarios, from wiring an aircraft to the design of major infrastructure. Users feel like they are truly in the simulated space and interact with the parts and machinery in a real time, 1:1 scale world.
The awards where the winners will be announced takes place in on the 6th February in Amsterdam.
